NEIU SUAA Chapter spring meeting re: Tier 2 pension benefits, April 30

The spring meeting of the NEIU State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) Chapter will be held at noon on April 30 on the Main Campus in Room B 146 and will be of special interest to Tier 2 employees (hired on or after Jan. 1, 2011). This topic will be of interest to all, even if you are not a Tier 2 employee, as pension benefits are an important element for recruitment and retention of employees.

We will be showing a video presentation from the June 15, 2023, SUAA annual meeting, in which Rep. Stephanie Kifowit speaks about proposed legislation that may be put forth that will eliminate the potential Safe Harbor violations for SURS Tier 2 employees that could come by 2025. Safe Harbor violations occur if pensions produce returns that are lower than Social Security. This violates federal law. The video is approximately 30 minutes.
