SSFA Guidance –
Earlier this year, former President Biden signed the Social Security Fairness Act, which repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), into law. Since that time, SUAA has received several calls and emails from members inquiring about when they could expect to see an increase in their Social Security Payments now that both provisions have been repealed. At this time, we're encouraging all SUAA members to make sure the Social Security Administration (SSA) has their most recent address and banking information on file with the SSA. The SSA has provided a helpful FAQ website on what the passing of the Social Security Act will mean for those who were affected by the WEP and GPO. You may access the FAQ page by CLICKING HERE.
Aris Folley, with TheHill.com, published an article last week on how the SSA expects it may take more than one year to adjust benefits and pay all retroactive benefits. You may read that article by CLICKING HERE.
